Thought for the Day: Today's total solar eclipse begins in Brazil, then skims across the Atlantic to Niger, Chad and Libya where it will reach maximum totality at 5:11 a.m. ET. It then catches the corner of Egypt, speeds between Crete and Cyprus, and carries on to the Black Sea.

Excerpt from Penny Thornton
27th March 2006 - 2nd April 2006
March came in with a blast from Uranus and it's going out on a total solar eclipse, so uneventful is not how I'd describe these last few weeks. Despite my being a fiery Aries, I enjoy slipping into the slow lane of life from time to time, and this just hasn't been possible recently, I've been racing in ten directions at once. Nevertheless, I have been able to try out my latent diplomatic skills and discovered another useful practice - compromise. So, as we turn the corner into April, should you be like me a little bruised and battered, let's not forget the words of that ultimate Aries heroine, Scarlett O'Hara - tomorrow is another day!

Daily Cosmic Calendar

It's nearly impossible to offer a simple interpretation for today's cosmic proceedings. Two of the most potent events that can occur from the astrological vantage point are a Total Solar Eclipse and a station of the outermost planet, Pluto. The fact that they are both happening today and within less than 3 hours of each other is truly remarkable. The Total Solar Eclipse -- energizing 9 degrees of Aries -- occurs at 2:13AM PST. The Full Moon that is part and parcel of this alignment happens just 3 minutes later. The Pluto station and turn from direct to retrograde strikes at 4:39AM PST and activates 27 degrees of Sagittarius -- a zodiacal placement that just happens to coincide with the center of our Milky Way Galaxy, our celestial home. [Pluto stays in reverse until September 4 when it will go direct again at 25 degrees of Sagittarius.] All Pluto themes -- death and rebirth, metamorphosis and transformation, the underworld, mysteries and secrets, extremism of any kind, nuclear energy and terrorism, lasers in medicine and technology, willpower and spiritual purpose, the creator and destroyer principles -- are potent now and for the next couple of days. Once all is said and done, and you move into the late morning and afternoon hours, shake off all the psychic hassles that have been bothering you for the last few weeks. Chase away the moody blues and offer a toast to better times that can unfold during the 30-day solar-lunar cycle just getting started. You want to put your best foot forward in a wide variety of fields and enterprises close to your heart.

From Kelli Fox's Astrology.com

Sun into Aries, Sun trine Saturn, Venus square Jupiter, Mercury Direct, Venus trine Mars 03/20/06 - 03/26/06

The Sun is back at the beginning of the zodiac, and its move into Aries on the 20th brings a bang of assertive energy. Excitement continues on the 25th, as the Sun's trine to Saturn puts you in an excellent position to sweet talk your superiors. That same day, a square between Venus and Jupiter spells extravagance, and Mercury's return to direct movement will put an end to your communication woes. Just in time, because Venus's trine to Mars on the 26th will cook up romantic surprises for one and all!

March 20: Sun into Aries
After a month of tiptoeing quietly through Pisces, encouraging you to think more of your loved ones than yourself, the Sun has a new plan: It's off for assertive, aggressive Aries. There's no sign that's more action-oriented, so if you're smart, you'll use the coming month to stop thinking and start doing. Big plans are where big changes come from -- but you've got to take the first step if you really want those changes to occur. Of course, Aries is also quite fond of doing battle, so you may be a bit more confrontational than usual. If you're trying to talk your boss into letting you do things your way, better ask a friend to prep you for the conversation -- and you'll definitely want to resist any temptation to pound on the desk. That's not an ideal way to convince higher-ups that you're right. Well, not usually ....

March 25: Sun trine Saturn, Venus square Jupiter, Mercury Direct
There's quite the mixed bag of energies on duty at the moment, guaranteeing that this will be an interesting day. The Sun and Saturn, the heavens' two most respected authority figures, are working together to help you make progress with any and all superiors and elders -- even if it's just asking Grandma for advice. Even better, Venus in impetuous Aquarius has a date with generous Jupiter -- and when these two get together, excess and extravagance are unavoidable, no matter how frugal you usually are. That alone could add up to finally seeing that raise, promotion or bonus you'd just about given up on! But the best news is that today, after three long weeks in retrograde, communicative Mercury will turn direct. Those roadblocks that seemed to greet you at every turn will start to dissolve -- and getting in touch with the people you most want to see will suddenly become a lot easier. Among other things, then, it's definitely time to make another appointment with the boss. Oh, and another date with whoever you irritated last week ....

March 26: Venus trine Mars
If you're attached, don't be surprised at anything -- repeat, anything -- that your partner says or does. We'll all be feeling especially erratic today -- in a fun way, though, so don't worry. But do be open to adventure! If you're single, picture this: Venus is in Aquarius, putting us all in the mood to connect with someone who's definitely not our type. In fact, that someone is likely as far from our type as possible. Venus is in contact with her ancient lover, passionate Mars, who's in Gemini at the moment -- another sign that loves new experiences. In a nutshell? Don't be surprised if someone you meet through the cousin of a friend of a friend invites you to go to Vegas for the weekend -- this weekend -- and if you accept. Oh, have some fun. The universe insists!

Beware the Ides of March!
From Anthony Peña,Your Guide to Astrology.FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now!

The ominous warning, "Beware the Ides of March," originated with the Roman ruler, Julius Caesar, who was assassinated on the Ides of March - March 15, 44 B.C.E. If you've heard the ominous warning, then it's most likely due to William Shakespeare and his play, Julius Caesar.
The warning itself was made famous in Shakespeare's play on Julius Caesar, when an unidentified soothsayer tells Caesar, who is on his way to the Senate (and his death), "Beware the ides of March." Caesar replies, "He is a dreamer; let us leave him. Pass."

The Astrologer Spurinna
According to historical writer C.J.S. Thompson, Ph.D. in The Mystery and Romance of Astrology, 1929, the unidentified soothsayer from Shakespeare's play was a Roman astrologer by name of Spurinna. According to Thompson - and confirmed in Plutarch's account of the story written in 75 A.D. and Suetonius in 110 A.D. - it was sometime prior to the fateful day of March 15 that Spurinna had first given Caesar the famous warning to "beware of the Ides of March."
The astrologer, Spurinna, had previously warned Caesar that on "the Ides of March," he would be in great danger. If, however, Julius Caesar took care on that one day - then all would be well.
According to Plutarch's account, Caesar had previously made the wise decision to stay within the safety of his bedroom chambers on the 15th of March. However, Caesar's "friend" Decimus (Albinus) Brutus (not Marcus Brutus) managed to convince him that the astrologer's warnings were nothing more than superstitious foolishness.
So Julius Caesar decided to attend the Senate on the 15th of March. On his way to the Senate, Caesar "accidentally" met up with the astrologer. Upon seeing Spurinna, Caesar confidently informed the astrologer: "The Ides of March are come."
Spurinna replied, "Yes, they are come, but they are not past."
Later that day - on March 15, 44 B.C.E - Caesar's enemies assassinated him in the Pompey theater, at the foot of Pompey's statue, where the Roman Senate was meeting that day in the temple of Venus.

What Are the Ides?
In the ancient Roman calendar, each of the 12 months of the year had an "ides." In March, May, July and October, the "ides" fell on the 15th day. In every other month, the "ides" fell on the 13th. The word "ides" was derived from the Latin "to divide." The "ides" were originally meant to mark the full moon - but since the solar calendar months and lunar months were of different lengths, the "ides" quickly lost their original intent and purpose.
So an alternative (albeit somewhat dubious) theory, as to why Caesar might have "seemingly" ignored the ominous warning of Spurinna, is that perhaps Julius Caesar got the dates of the warning mixed up. He may have been thinking that the Ides of March fell on the 13th.
Using this theory, forgetful Caesar would have been very careful and stayed home on the 13th of March, but on the 15th of March his guard was down.

Practical Magic by April Elliott Kent
Going to worship services and participating in other formalized rituals can be beautiful, meaningful. These are moments when we get to step outside of our routines and examine our spiritual progress with an objective eye, unencumbered by the distractions of regular life. But for most of us, formal ritual has to be carved out of days that are already bulging at the seams. When we leave our formalized ritual spaces, we need a method of pursuing our lofty spiritual goals in the real world, ideally one that capitalizes on the fifteen waking hours each day that most of us spend just taking care of business. Enter Virgo, who asks, what if each part of your day, tasks great and small, could be a catalyst for your spiritual growth?.... (go to article)

Full Moon Meditation: Lunar Eclipses, Earthly Instincts. by April Elliott Kent
At the solar eclipse, later this month, it's the Sun, the splendid, extravagant ego, that will be obscured by the wild, intuitive energy of the Moon, creating a funhouse mirror effect of exaggerated images and freakish sensations. But at this lunar eclipse, your vision is clear - or at least, you are guided by keen instinct; not the wild, emotional intuition of the Moon, but rather the quiet instincts of the Earth. They are the same instincts that guide the hand of the craftsman as it chooses just the right piece of wood for his project; as it hovers for a moment over one chisel, before selecting another that's just right for the task.... Weekly Overview
A tough connection between Venus, the relationship planet, and deep, dark Pluto can make for an intense weekend. Jealousy and desire are strong forces that may overcome common sense. Powerful attractions can be exciting, but not always healthy. A dash of cool detachment should go a long way to keep an overheated heart from taking you further than you want to go.

The Stars This Week
Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) in Virgo, Mercury square Mars 03/13/06 - 03/19/06 Full Moons are powerful -- but lunar eclipses are positively electrifying. And that's just what we'll get on the 14th, in efficient, analytical Virgo. It's prime time to let go of anything that's outlived its purpose, and to make room for new successes. Energy is also high on the 18th -- but due to Mercury's square to Mars, it could be of the testy variety. Don't worry: It's nothing that can't be fixed by a little distance from potential sources of irritation!

March 14: Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) in Virgo
Eclipses are amazing things. In addition to the changes we can observe in the Sun and Moon, these events tend to affect us in startling, unseen ways. Today's eclipse is due to energize Virgo, the sign famous for creating order and cleanliness -- and for never failing to offer help. Virgo is also in charge of work issues, so if you wake up today and find yourself facing a challenging situation in that department, your first instruction is this: no panicking. When something leaves during an eclipse, it's because it's no longer useful to you. Let it go, whatever it is, and remember: If things stayed the same, we'd never have room for growth. It's time to stretch, and to reach for something new. Make room.

March 18: Mercury square Mars
Last Saturday was a bit on the volatile side -- remember? Everyone was cranky, unpredictable and more likely to start an argument than to consider anyone else's side. Maybe even you were a little testier than usual. Now that you've been reminded of how easy it is to let little things get out of hand -- and how unproductive it is to allow that to happen -- you'll be especially careful. Right? Well good, because today's agenda calls for the astrological equivalent of an argument: a square between communicative Mercury and Mars, the universe's most famous hothead. Don't let anyone irritate you unnecessarily. If you feel a dispute coming on, distance yourself, just for now.

Daily Cosmic Calendar

Strike while the iron is hot this morning. You receive several green lights in rapid succession during a highly unusual series of flowing celestial alignments. Here's your line-up: Sun in Pisces trine the Moon in Cancer (3:17AM PST; Moon trine Jupiter (3:27AM PST); Sun trine Jupiter (5:15AM PST); Moon trine Mercury (12:42PM PST). What's really happening is that a grand triangle in water signs becomes temporarily active in the zodiac. As mentioned in the last two calendar entries, you have a rare and unique ability to understand economic trends during the morning hours. If the business world does not appeal to you, spiritual studies, yoga and meditation are a perfect fit for this kind of geometric formation. You can also be on a roll with improvisation in music, dance, theater, film, poetry, painting and photography. Your formidable powers may start to wane once the Moon begins a void cycle at 12:42PM PST that lasts until 1:43AM PST tomorrow. Stay on the good side of a love one this evening while Venus parallels Pluto (7:56PM PST) and Mercury in Pisces squares Juno in Gemini (8:36PM PST). The usual and negative manifestation here would be a vocal skirmish between loved ones. Keep your distance from shouting matches and demeaning language. Be prepared for some heavy vibes coming in tomorrow when Saturn pulls strings.

Today's Outlook: We get the best side of the Moon in nurturing Cancer today as it forms a harmonious water grand trine with the Sun in imaginative Pisces and Jupiter in passionate Scorpio. This emotionally self-sufficient closed circuit of planetary energy offers the opportunity to attune to our inner world, without necessarily having to justify it to anyone else. This is a mixed blessing; we may feel good about ourselves, though we might be less connected to others than we think. Take a chance, for these trines from the Sun and Moon to beneficent Jupiter are considered lucky

March 9: Sun trine Jupiter
When the Sun and Jupiter get together, the two mightiest powers in the heavens are joining forces -- which means it's prime time to tackle your list. You know the list we're talking about, don't you? The one you've been hiding under the pile because you hate the thought of starting it? Well, it has to be done at some point, so dig it out. You'll be amazed by how easily you can accomplish things now -- and you won't have to handle it alone. Mighty Jupiter, ruler of influential people, is currently in persuasive Scorpio, a sign that simply won't be sidetracked once it's on a mission. Ask for help -- and if you're asked, give it graciously.

It's that time again: Mercury turned retrograde on March 2, and will continue its apparent backward journey until the 25th. Better dust off all the standard Mercury-retrograde cautions: Back up computer files and go the extra mile to express yourself clearly. When the Communication Planet is in reverse, it can feel like productivity is in park! But no two retrogrades are the same -- and Mercury's latest move makes this a crucial time to strike new balance.Mercury retrograde is always cause for introspection -- even more so as it takes place in Pisces, the imaginative final sign of the zodiac. The Fish swim through deep, dreamy waters, so pay close attention to your subconscious cues for the next few weeks. Reason may be particularly obscured, but as typical modes of communication become tricky, we'll all benefit from indulging those creative sides!Of course, the planets love a good curveball: On March 4, Jupiter, ruler of values, also turns retrograde (until July 6). With Jupiter's social aspects highlighted -- and its typical grandeur toned down -- now's the time to realistically reevaluate your belief system: What's crucial to your role in the bigger social picture ... and what's holding you back?Put it all together, and what do you get? A golden opportunity not only to immerse yourself in your dreams, but also to season them with a pinch of reality. Source, From Kelli Fox and I-Village:

Don't Mess with Mercury
But do try new, compassionate modes of communication! It's a veritable astrology course of a week, starting with the emotional new Moon on the 27th. On the 28th, Mercury squares Pluto and sextiles Venus, and Mars sextiles Saturn, which should make for an intensely productive day. The Sun's conjunction to Uranus on the 1st will foster compassion -- and you'll need it, because Mercury turns retrograde on the 2nd. And if that's not enough, Venus moves into shocking Aquarius on the 5th. For more in-depth info on what these transits mean and how they'll affect your week, read up on The Stars This Week.

March 1: Sun conjunct Uranus
The Sun is in sensitive, intuitive Pisces at the moment, asking us all to be compassionate, thoughtful and especially kind to everyone we encounter -- whether an old, dear friend or just someone we've spotted by the side of the road who needs help changing a tire. And speaking of running into someone who needs help, those situations -- the entirely unexpected kinds that test your humanity -- will be the name of the game now, thanks to Uranus, the king of surprises and last-minute change. Of course, you'll be amply rewarded in the form of at least one fun, interesting person you'd never have crossed paths with otherwise. You may even end up with a new friend. If it stresses you out when things don't go as planned, however, it might be time to break out the chamomile tea. In fact, carry a thermos.

March 2: Mercury Stationary Retrograde
Mercury has always been known as the messenger of the gods, meaning that he's in charge of our communication with each other -- and with our environment. Today, however, he's about to start a three-week vacation, otherwise known as Mercury retrograde. Three times a year, the messenger quite literally turns his back on us. And without his guidance, keeping track of meetings, appointments, directions and the care and maintenance of communication- and transportation-related devices ... well, it becomes a bit more 'challenging,' shall we say. Basically, it's time to troubleshoot. Double-check your list before you leave the house, and never, ever expect to make it where you're going at the time and/or via the path you'd expected. It's okay. These three weeks never fail to give each of us a pack of interesting stories.

March 5: Venus into Aquarius
After just about two months of strolling in most dignified fashion through responsible, respectable Capricorn, lovely lady Venus is in the mood for a change -- and what a change it will be! Today, she'll take off for startling Aquarius, the sign that most loves to shock and amaze the masses -- in any way possible. Since Venus is in charge of love, relationships, money and possessions, several scenarios are possible. First off, we'll all be tempted to bring someone home we know our families will hate on sight, simply because they're totally unlike our typical suitors. Spending money on something we had to ask the salesperson to identify could be on that list too, along with the urge to toss out every piece of conservative clothing in our closets. Think of it as being possessed -- and try not to do anything permanent to your hair. This, too, shall pass.

Monthly Forecast for MARCH 2006 by Yasmin Boland

As they say ? never mind the past, here come the eclipses!
Full Moon Eclipse in Virgo on March 14 at 11.47pm GMT. Venus meets Chiron now so if you need love healing, force yourself to face up to the facts you?ve been trying to ignore.
New Moon Eclipse in Aries on March 29 at 10.11am GMT. A lot of what happens now depends on what has happened so far. If things haven?t gone quite your way, there?s a good chance you?ll have the opportunity to talk your way into or out of a situation.
The New Moon eclipse won?t be visible from England, Australia or the US. The Full Moon eclipse will be visible from parts of Europe. For more info about where you can see what
:http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/OH/OH2006.html
Also, Mercury is retrograde from March 2 to March 25. See your forecast for what that means for you sign.
For us all, the stand out Power Days of the month promise to be:
March 1 ? a day for achievements... March 3 ? If we snoop, we?ll be sorry... March 5 ? Venus into Aquarius (love gets lighter and Air/Fire signs get a romantic boost)... March 12 ? arguably the angriest day of the month (for everyone)! March 14 ? eclipse day and a great day to kiss and make up... March 20 ? take care if you?re the jealous type... March 26 ? tr賠romantique. 29 March ? eclipse! MARCH IS A MONTH TO...
Re-read it, re-say it, re-think it (Mercury is retrograde) ... embrace change, as the eclipse helps us jump into our future ? carefully discern between fantasy and reality.
Have a good one!
http://www.bubble.com/
Week Ahead: This week, I'd like to talk to you about next week! A couple of powerful changes are coming up. If you understand how the climate is likely to alter, you can make the most of how things currently are. Mercury, the communication planet, is about to go through one - a 'reverse' phase. This happens for two or three weeks at a time, two or three times a year. When it does, letters often go astray, transportation arrangements get delayed, negotiations develop difficulties and misunderstandings occur. If you've got something you want to say, settle or sort out… do it now while the cosmic coast is clear. Jupiter also 'changes direction' next week and continues to move apparently backwards till July. Jupiter governs grand plans, great adventures and high aspirations. If you are nurturing a special hope, make at least some small, symbolic gesture of commitment to this now, while you still feel quite clear about what you want to achieve.
