This is a week of endings and beginnings as Mercury, Mars and the Sun enter new signs. First, Mercury enters freethinking Aquarius on January 15 followed by Mars's entrance into achievement-oriented Capricorn on January 16. The Sun transits into humanitarian Aquarius on January 20. But just prior the Sun's new journey, Venus conjuncts Neptune on January 18, so you might feel Cupid's arrow when you least expect it.
January 15: Mercury enters Aquarius
When Mercury, the planet of communication, enters free-spirited Aquarius, you have truly original ideas. Now is the time to stay with them, develop them and speak about them. Above all, be inventive and think outside of the box.
January 16: Mars enters Capricorn
It's amazing what some people can accomplish in a day, and as Mars enters ambitious Capricorn, you'll get a couple of months to emulate those determined folks. Now is the time to pursue anything that requires loads of discipline and tenacity. Start that diet or exercise program, find the love of your life or finish your dissertation. When you take the warrior energy of Mars and put it in the sign represented by the determined mountain goat, there's little you can't accomplish. Put all of your great ideas into motion and charge forth!
January 18: Venus conjunct Neptune
Are you ready to fall in love? When Venus, the planet of personal love, joins up with Neptune, the planet of spiritual love, your soul will yearn to experience a deep connection. You can't help but open your heart now. Idealism is high, and you are likely to see beauty in the least expected places. Make the most of this energy by spending special time with your favorite fabulous person -- especially if that person is you!
January 20: Sun enters Aquarius
Aquarius is often mistaken for a water sign because its symbol is the Water Bearer. This sign is actually part of the air element and is connected to the world of ideas. Many Aquarians are known for being forward thinking, unconventional and even rebellious. Often their ideas are cutting-edge, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Every year as the Sun transits Aquarius, you have the opportunity to be less conservative, to be a bit of a wild child and add something totally different, innovative and exciting to your life.

Thought for the Day: Mercury, today, enters the sector of the sky governed by Aquarius. All water-bearers and the other two air signs of Gemini and Libra have a chance to get their creative imagination into top gear from now to the end of the month.

Your Week Ahead
Mars, this week, enters Capricorn. There's a New Moon in the same sign of the sea-goat at the end of the week. Mercury, meanwhile, joins Venus in the sign of the water carrier. Many people, understandably, imagine that Aquarius must be a water sign. They also think that if Capricorn is symbolised by a sea-goat, it must also have a connection to the water element. Not so. Aquarius is Air. Capricorn is Earth. Indeed, there's very little happening in the heavenly water signs this week. Which makes it a good time for talking, thinking and 'doing' but not such a great time for exploring and expressing emotion.
